19th Amendment - Women’s Right to Vote.
Passed by Congress June 4, 1919. Ratified August 18, 1920.
The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
The 19th amendment guarantees all American women the right to vote. Achieving this milestone required a long and hard fought struggle. From the beginning of the mid-19th century, generations of woman suffrage supporters lectured, wrote, marched, lobbied, and practiced civil disobedience to achieve this change. Few early supporters lived to see final victory in 1920.
