But trust me now that there are so many ways to tastefully blend the leafy greens like kale and spinach, or a creamy avocado (and yes, avocados really do make for a smooth cream like texture in smoothies) with the more lustful flavors of sweet fruits.
At Farm Brand, we love being the purveyors of accessible information that can help you to live a happy and healthy lifestyle, so we wanted to curate five easy smoothies recipes that do not take a million ingredients and are packed with the good stuff that keeps you doing the things in life you love the most.
“A Date Night”
For our first smoothie recipe, let's get into a beauty boosting, sweet and savory smoothie that features the lovely taste of dates and pumpkin as the stars of the show combined with other beauty enhancing ingredients to create a rather subtle nutty tone and tasty drink. This smoothie is great for helping to clear skin and give you a nice glow, and overall provides you with a great source of vitamin K, vitamin C, vitamin B6, calcium, and so much more. Your body will flourish in the health benefits as you soak up the vast range of nutrients provided by this green smoothie.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup uncooked spinach
- 1 small bunch of turnip greens (Start small and adjust to taste)
- 4 Pitted Dates (Can also be replaced with figs, however dates are much sweeter)
- 2 Tbsp Pureed Pumpkin (Organic canned pumpkin puree works great)
- ½ Cup Frozen Grapes
- 1 Tbsp Flax Seeds
- 1 Tsp Chia Seeds
- 1 Cup Coconut or Almond Milk
- 1 Tbsp Honey
- ¼ Cup Water to Start
- 1 Big Handful of Ice
To make this smoothie, simply wash all of the ingredients and combine them into a blender with a big handful of ice. Blend until smooth and creamy. Depending on your preference of consistency, continue adding ice and water until it reaches your liking.
Optional additions:
This smoothie will taste great with 1 scoop of green collagen powder. Collagen is known to reduce wrinkles and improve overall skin health and is an excellent source of protein that will blend well and taste great in this smoothie recipe.
Also feel free to add some shredded coconut if you want to further enhance the nutty taste of the easy to make green smoothie.
“Tropical Chocolate”
Everybody loves chocolate, but in my own personal opinion there is nothing better than when the flavors of chocolate are combined with a big and ripe banana. And then, to further instill a day dream of a morning on a far away Caribbean beach, add a little coconut undertone and you are ready to sunbathe until the sun goes down.
But not only does this smoothie taste absolutely amazing, it is a perfect way to give yourself a little serving of greens and nice hint of natural sugar to satisfy your cravings. Because although there are mentions of fruit, especially bananas, being high in sugar; it is important to note that this sugar IS indeed natural, and smoothies often help people to wean off of the processed and densely high sugar content that comes in nearly any other soda or juice.
Ingredients:
- 2 Frozen Bananas
- ¼ Cup Shredded Coconut
- 1 Cup dry Spinach
- 1 Tbsp Hemp Seeds (optional)
- ½ Cup Vanilla Yogurt (Preferably organic)
- 1 Cup Chocolate Almond or Coconut Milk
- 1 Big Handful of Ice
To make this smoothie, simply wash all of the ingredients and combine them into a blender with a big handful of ice. Blend until smooth and creamy. Depending on your preference of consistency, continue adding ice and more chocolate nut milk until it reaches your liking.
Optional Additions:
Chocolate protein powder is a great addition to this healthy smoothie recipe. Not only will it further promote the chocolate taste, it will give you an extremely easy to consume and digest method to receive 20-30 grams (depending on the type of powder) of protein straight into your diet.
